Parents Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the lessons / camps take place?

We offer individual and group lessons at either Gurnell or Acton Skateparks. For the day camps, on Fridays we sometimes travel to other skateparks too, such as Raemers, Mile End, Lloyd Park, Southbank and BaySixty6 . On Friday's we meet at Haven Green, opposite Ealing Broadway at 10am

How many children are there in a group lesson or camp day?

When at either Gurnell or Acton Skateparks, the instructor :rider ratio will never be more than 1:12. If we travel by tube to a different skatepark on a Friday, there will always be at least 2 coaches.

Can I come and watch my child?

Of course. You can turn up and leave whenever you like.

Should my child take a mobile phone with them?

If they have a phone and want to take, then yes. If you would like the coach to look after it whilst they are skating, this is fine too.

Can I get in contact with the coach during the day?

Yes, we will give you the mobile number of the coach. We will also take your mobile number too and you must make sure you can take the call if we need to ring you.

What happens if my child has a bad accident during the day?

When at either Gurnell or Acton, we will call you straight away and expect you to be able to get the skatepark within 30mins. If it is a serious accident, we may have already called for an ambulance before you arrive. All of our coaches are first aid trained. If we go further afield on a Friday, we always have more than one coach, in case somebody needed to go to hospital.

My child doesn’t have their own skateboard or helmet. Can we rent one?

Yes. For £5 per lesson / day, we can rent you a skateboard and a helmet.

Does my child need elbow and knee pads as well as a helmet?

We recommend that pads are worn on both knees and elbows, but this is not compulsory like a helmet.

My child doesn’t have a Zip / Oyster card. Can I just buy a daily travelcard for them if you are travelling by tube or bus on a Friday trip?

Yes that's fine. Please make sure you've purchased the travelcard before meeting us on Haven Green though.

Rather than give my child a packed lunch, can I just give them some money to buy something?

Yes that's fine. Please let the coach know when you drop you're child off though.

On the Friday trips, what would happen if I am late and don’t get to the Haven Green drop-off point by 10am?

Please call 07500 710 447 if you get stuck in traffic / think you might be late. If we haven't heard from you by 10.15am, we may have to leave.

If I got held up and didn’t make it to Haven Green for the 4pm pick-up, what would happen?

Please call 07500 710 447 if you get stuck in traffic / think you might be late.

If it is raining heavily on the day, would the camp still go ahead?

Even we don't like to skate all day in the rain, so if it's possible we will go to BaySixty6 instead. There would be an additional charge for this though to cover the entrance fee.

Who are the Team Riders?

Team Riders are often riders that have attended our camps previously and have shown us they can be role models to younger riders, demonstrating not only high skill levels, but also positive attitudes and the ability to coach in the future. When we have larger groups of riders, our Team Riders often come and support.
